FAQs

Can I use any wood pellets?

Soft wood pellets are recommended for the best performing, smokeless, warm burn.  Douglas Fir has proven to be our favorite.

Where can I get wood pellets?

You can purchase wood heating pellets in stores near you.  Check online near your location for availability and locations.

Is there any assembly required?

Yes, but we make it easy! Simply screw the pole onto the base, screw the heater onto the pole, gently slide in the glass tube and then slip the heat reflector over the top of the glass. Requires no tools and takes only a couple of minutes to assemble. Watch the "set up" video here. (link to video)

How do I get it started?

First, make sure the pellet cartridge is shifted all the way into the burn chamber. Next, load the pellet hopper with pellets, and use our included propane torch head to ignite through the burn chamber opening. It takes approximately one minute to ignite.Watch the "ignite" video here.

Should I expect smoke?

There will be a small amount of smoke right at start up, but as soon as the pellets are fully ignited, there will be no more smoke for as long as you want to keep the fire going by refilling the hopper.

What do I do if my Jetlamp smokes?

1. Check the damper door to ensure it's not closed all the way, and the pellet hopper lid to make sure it's not stuck open. 2. Gusty wind can knock the heater's rocket stove out of its rhythm; if so, re-torch the fire through the burn chamber for 10-15 seconds to get it back into its flow. 3. Your heater may have excess soot or residue built up inside the pellet hopper, cartridge or stove.  Watch thetroubleshooting, resetandcleaningvideos here to know how to best operate your Jetlamp.

Should I operate my Jetlamp in windy conditions?

No.  If consistent, gusty wind picks up during Jetlamp operation, point the burn chamber away from the wind, stop feeding it pellets, and let it burn out.  If you need to put the Jetlamp out immediately, see how to turn it off.
